Afterwards, we drive south through the scenic Rif Mountains to the famous "Blue City" of Chefchaouen. You'll check into your riad and have the evening to get lost in its enchanting, blue-painted streets.
Day 2: Chefchaouen β Fes
After breakfast, you'll have the morning to further explore Chefchaouen at your own pace. In the early afternoon, we will drive to Fes, the spiritual and cultural heart of Morocco. Upon arrival, you'll check into your riad in the medina and have the rest of the evening to relax and anticipate your exploration of this ancient city.
Day 3: Fes β Ifrane β Merzouga Desert
An early start today as we embark on the long but scenic journey to the Sahara Desert. We'll pass through the Middle Atlas mountains, stopping at Ifrane, the "Switzerland of Morocco," and the cedar forests of Azrou to see the Barbary macaque monkeys. We continue through the Ziz Valley, arriving in Merzouga in the late afternoon. Here, your camels will be waiting to take you on a trek across the Erg Chebbi dunes to your desert camp. You'll watch the sunset over the sands and enjoy a traditional dinner under the stars.
Day 4: Merzouga β Ouarzazate β Marrakech
Wake up early for a spectacular desert sunrise. After breakfast, you'll camel trek back to Merzouga to meet your driver. Today is another long day of travel as we make our way to Marrakech. FAQ
Is this a good tour for a first-time visitor? Yes, if you are short on time and want to see as much as possible. However, be prepared for long driving days, especially on Day 3 and Day 4. This is an adventure-focused tour, not a leisurely one.
How long are the drives? Day 3 (Fes to Merzouga) and Day 4 (Merzouga to Marrakech) are both very long driving days, typically 8-10 hours each with stops. We recommend you are well-rested and prepared for the time on the road.
Can we have a guided tour in Fes? Yes, a half-day guided tour of Fes can be added to the morning of Day 3 for an additional cost. This would mean a later departure for the desert. Please let us know if you are interested when booking.
